In this presentation fat QCon London, Jeff Barr, Senior Evangelist at Amazon, discusses Amazon Web Services: Building Blocks for True Internet Applications. Jeff talks about how the Amazon services provide "application building blocks that alleviate the problems (notably cost and scaling) associated with Web development. Together these applications form the foundation for Amazons Cloud Computing offering.
Six services are noted:
- Simple Queue Service
- Simple Storage Service (S3)
- Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
- Flexible Payments Service
- SimpleDB, and
- DevPay.
The presentation focuses on what the services are, why they are useful, and some cost information with short case studies of how others have used these servides.
