WiX: The Future of Setup/Deployment Projects for Windows Developers
Setup/Deployment Projects are currently strongly tied to the Visual Studio IDE itself. This makes it unnecessarily difficult to build setup/deployment projects from tools such as NAnt and MSBuild. Microsoft will be addressing this by replacing the venerable tool with WiX, their open-source Windows Installer XML toolset.

Back when Visual SourceSafe was the de facto version control for Windows developers, remote access was a major problem. Products like SourceOffSite were a necessity for anyone working remotely. While globalization and unstable fuel prices continue to drive increases in telecommuting, Microsoft is still neglecting this sector, leaving opportunities for smaller companies like Teamprise.

CodePlex Adds Support for TortoiseSVN
CodePlex has recently announced that it is supporting SVN clients, like TortoiseSVN, to connect to its code repository in order to synchronize source code and resources. In the past, SVN users had to run SvnBridge every time they wanted to synchronize with CodePlex, but now it can be done only by using the correct URL in SVN client's settings.

Team Foundation Server 2008: Out-Of-The-Box Support for Continuous Integration

TeamCity 2 Continous Build Platform adds Eclipse & Visual Studio Plugins
Jetbrains has released TeamCity 2; their Continuous Build platform adds more VCS support as well as IDE plugins. Eclipse support includes a personal builds, views of builds triggered by the developer's check-ins, offending code highlighting, etc. The VS plugin includes Team Foundation Server integration, managing TFS specific tasks including check in policies and notes and TFS work items.

Team Foundation Server SP 1 Beta 1.0 Released
A beta of the Team Foundation Server SP1 has been released via Microsoft Connect. This release contains new features as well as bug fixes. It is currently available in English and Japanese.

Upcoming Features in Team Foundation Server SP1
Brian Harry, Product Unit Manager for Visual Studio Team Foundation, wrote about upcoming features for Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1 today. No specific timeframe has been announced, but a beta should be coming shortly.
