CentraSite™ for MID GmbH

CentraSite and Innovator are working hand-in-hand to efficiently plan, design, implement and maintain service-oriented IT infrastructures (SOA). While Centrasite provides SOA meta data repository functionality in combination with an extensive SOA governance solution, MID's Innovator is geared towards analysis, architecture and design of SOA based applications and services themselves. In this context Innovator provides an extensive tool family for tasks like business process modeling, BPEL generation, WSDL generation, impact analysis in the course of service change management etc. The broad functionality of Innovator covers the complete value chain of SOA based software development.

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) serves as the basis for modeling, which can be seen in an advantageous light in all design activities. This leads to optimized coverage and consistency of work results throughout the complete value chain of software development. The SOA model can be created in Innovator as a cooperation of disciplines (department, IT analysis, IT design, implementation, QA, project management etc.). With the use of a Domain Specific Language (DSL) you are able to focus the UML to designing processes and, in particular, services. Automated model verification in Innovator helps to assure the quality of the results.

The common model could also then be applied to distributed teams, like IT implementation in offshore regions, e.g. in India. The tight-knit integration of Innovator with development environments (e.g. Eclipse and Visual Studio) means that all development phases, from analysis right through to implementation, can be carried out.

The seamless tool integration and cooperation between CentraSite and Innovator facilitates the transfer of an existing conventional architecture into a SOA. This integrated approach assists both: Companies which are developing a new SOA-based application and want to carry it over into operation and those companies which operate various SOA-based applications and want to adapt these.

The basis of the integration of both tools is the dynamic exchange of metadata. Both the creation and modification of services are initiated in models and are immediately effective and transparent upon realization within the runtime environment. This consistently maps the company architecture in both the model and in operation. This integration scenario provides all information about an SOA from the design environment (Innovator) in the SOA registry / repository (CentraSite) and vice versa.
