Kubecost Launches Version 2.0 with Network Monitoring

This item in japanese

Kubecost, a Kubernetes cost monitoring and management solution, recently announced the launch of Kubecost 2.0. This is a major upgrade that brings many new features to help organizations better monitor, manage, and optimize their Kubernetes-related cloud expenses. New features include advanced network monitoring, a new automation workflow system, improved cost forecasting powered by machine learning, and a high-performance API backend

One of the key features of Kubecost 2.0 is the advanced network monitoring capability. This provides teams full visibility into Kubernetes and cloud network costs, which have traditionally been challenging to monitor and optimize. Organizations can identify unexpected cost increases and achieve potential reductions by gaining granular insights into network expenses.

Another notable addition in the 2.0 release is Kubecost actions, an automation workflow system that enables teams to manage and automate cost optimization tasks. With Kubecost actions, users can dynamically scale resources based on cost and usage data, ensuring that their Kubernetes deployments remain cost-efficient without sacrificing performance.

Kubecost 2.0 also introduces improved cost forecasting capabilities powered by machine learning algorithms. By leveraging AI-driven insights, teams can access more accurate cost projections and proactively identify potential optimization opportunities.

To further enhance the user experience, Kubecost 2.0 includes an anomaly detection system that alerts users to unusual spending patterns or deviations. This proactive monitoring helps prevent bill shock and allows teams to quickly investigate and address any unexpected cost spikes.

Under the hood, Kubecost 2.0 has a new API backend that delivers performance improvement at scale. Such performance boost enables the solution to handle large-scale Kubernetes environments and query up to 3 years or more of historical data. The enhanced scalability and query capabilities empower organizations to gain deeper insights into their long-term cost trends and make informed decisions based on extensive historical data.

In addition, Kubecost 2.0 introduces collections, a unified reporting feature that combines Kubernetes and cloud costs for a holistic view of expenses. This comprehensive reporting enables teams to manage chargeback and showback processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation and accountability across the organization.

According to a recent survey from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), nearly half of the organizations in the survey spend more with Kubernetes mainly due to overprovisioning.

Kubecost 2.0 is available for free and can be installed using Helm, making it an accessible solution for teams looking to better control their Kubernetes-related expenses in the enterprise.
