WSO2 Releases New Versions of WSO2 Carbon and Stratos

This item in japanese

WSO2 launched today the latest releases of its open source platforms:  WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform and WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform. They are both built on a common OSGi-compliant foundation. The new features include:

  • A New Ghost Deployer. This function is designed to optimize resource usage when large numbers of artifacts, or services, are deployed in the system. Ghost Deployers create ghost services that are not deployed immediately and are loaded only when invoked.
  • A New Column Store Service (CSS). Based on Apache Cassandra, CSS can be used as a data store to manage very high, Web-scale volumes of data. It is based on keyspaces, which can be shared with different users. WSO2's CSS can also be used to manage external keyspaces and serve as a Cassandra management user interface.
  • A New Apache Subversion (SVN) Based Deployment. This deployment option enables SVN to manage the deployment artifacts for both products and services. It supports hot deployment and also enables scalability to support large numbers of artifacts. SVN deployment complements the registry-based deployment option already available with WSO2’s middleware and cloud platforms.
  • An Enhanced Load Balancer. This "Service-aware" dynamic load balancer enables a single load balancer node to balance the load across the instances of multiple service groups and route the requests among different service clusters. This removes the need to configure different load balancer nodes the support of services with varying load balancing needs. It also provides enhanced fail-over scenarios.

These new features are also available on StratosLive

Ghost deployment enables a leaner footprint when serving numerous tenants. Azeez authored an excellent description of the lazy loading mechanism used by the Ghost deployer. By incorporating a sophisticated deployment mechanism, Stratos raises resource monitoring and management to the application component level while lowering memory consumption.
