Microsoft announced several improvements to LightSwitch in Visual Studio 2013 Preview at the recently held \\Build conference in San Francisco. With the help of the latest update, you no longer have to switch between logical and file view because all your project content is available under one view in Solution Explorer.

It enables you to not only manage screens, tables and queries but also add a NuGet package, update CSS and images and manage project references while writing code all under one view.

The update includes support for features such as scoping, search and browse history in LightSwitch projects including improved JavaScript IntelliSense, integration with team build and code analysis.

LightSwitch in Visual Studio 2013 Preview has been updated in such a way that you can view multiple designers such as screen, table and query in its own tab in addition to intrinsic database management with linked database project which provides the ability to generate reference data and make schema enhancements.

According to Beth Massi, Senior Program Manager, Visual Studio, LightSwitch was already a super productive development environment, and it's gotten even better in this release.

The recent LightSwitch update enables you to persist entity, screen and query in its own .lsml model file, which reduces merge conflicts during multiple team work. It also provides API support for refreshing data on lists and screens in the runtime app.
