Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) provider AnyPresence continues to hone their chops. Launching the fifth update to their self-titled platform that focuses on better assisting the enterprise community to implement mobile compatibility across their organizations. Co-founder Rich Mendis provides some insights for InfoQ readers…
The platform is designed specifically to help developers with a repeatable, scalable model of building mobile apps that leverage existing enterprise IT systems. We have also invested in the re-usability of components such as integration connectors, authentication adapters, and extensions, so that developers can share their solutions across projects within the organization. AnyPresence also enables apps to be saved as templates, so that IT can define a common starting point for all applications, to further reduce development effort. Finally, all code generated from AnyPresence is available to developers via a source code repository, so they are not locked into the platform and can run their apps without any dependencies on AnyPresence, which means CIOs and their teams retain complete flexibility and freedom from any proprietary technology.
We are 100% compatible with the native development tools from Apple, Google, and other platforms. By ensuring source-code portability, CIOs can rest assured that they can take advantage of future investments from Google and Apple in their platforms, without relying on a third-party vendor.
The AnyPresence designer is web-based, easy to learn and use, and includes context-sensitive help and documentation with the ability to submit support requests from within the environment. We have created a guided app starter wizard that helps developers generate a complete starter enterprise app with server, sdks, and UI scaffold in under 10 minutes. AnyPresence can compile native iOS and Android apps in the cloud, and enable users to interact with the compiled apps without ever leaving the browser environment. All these investments result in a reduced learning curve to use the solution. It is also worth noting that because AnyPresence generates pure native source code without any proprietary components, developers can leverage their existing skill sets to further customize apps built with the solution.
Q- How does AnyPresence qualify a business to use its MBaaS solutions?
We have a broad range of customers that use our solution, from private, sub-$100M companies, to global Fortune 500 organizations. Companies decide to use AnyPresence based on the value the platform provides, and how important mobile ennoblement is to their strategy, not necessarily how large they are.
There are many types of businesses that can benefit from using AnyPresence, but our most qualified prospects typically have one or more of the following characteristics: Has a roadmap of multiple mobile apps to develop, either employee-facing (B2E), consumer-facing (B2C), or partner-facing (B2B2C)
· Has an in-house or outsourced team that prefers to have complete control over the source code
· Needs full ownership of the intellectual property of the app, a common requirement among independent software vendors (ISVs)
· Needs to be able to deploy the server component behind a firewall or has some other sensitive compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
· Is looking for a solution that accelerates development, without sacrificing full source-code control
