The 10th annual state of agile survey is open through October 2, 2015. The survey explores the worldwide adoption of agile:

The [state of agile] report gives software professionals deep insight into agile trends, best practices and lessons learned to help them succeed with their agile transformations. The report has become the largest, longest running, most widely cited agile survey in the world!

The survey is sponsored by VersionOne who announced the 10th survey in August 2015. CEO Robert Holler explains how the state of agile survey serves the agile community:

The survey gives agile software professionals around the world the opportunity to share their opinions on wide range of agile topics including the benefits of agile, top tips for scaling agile, how to measure agile success, and the most popular agile project management tools.

The 9th annual state of agile Report, published March 2015, showed that the usage of agile methods and practices is growing. It describes the reasons that companies have for adopting agile:

Consistent with last year, most respondents adopted agile practices to accelerate product delivery (59%) or enhance their ability to manage changing priorities (56%). However, in 2014, productivity (53%) has moved into the top 3, outranking last year’s #3 response—improved IT and business alignment.

Adopting Agile can be challenging. The 2015 survey reports the reasons which cause agile projects to fail:

In cases where agile projects were unsuccessful, most respondents pointed to lack of experience with agile methods (44%). Of note, two of the top five causes of failure were related to company culture – company philosophy or culture at odds with core agile values at 42% and lack of support for cultural transition at 36%.

Enterprises are looking for solutions . Several methodologies for scaling agile exist, recently the Nexus Guide for Scrum has been published. The state of agile 2015 reported on the usage of agile scaling methods:

With more energy put into scaling agile across the enterprise, the 2014 survey results showed more interest in the various scaling methodologies such as the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS), Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD), Scrum of Scrums, Agile Portfolio Management (APM) and others. Which were the preferred scaling methodologies of the year? The overwhelming response was Scrum of Scrums (69%), followed by internal methods (25%), SAFe (19%), and Lean (18%).

According to VersionOne participants of the annual state of agile survey will get the results as soon as they are available.
