Summary

Stephen Godwin describes how the BBC integrated its broadcast systems with AWS, how Video Factory is built around a microservices architecture that uses both REST and SQS and how this has allowed new features to be added and large changes to be made without interruption to the normal operation of iPlayer.

Bio

Stephen Godwin is a Senior Technical Architect at the BBC where he is responsible for designing the systems that provide audio and video to BBC iPlayer and iPlayer Radio. He designed the systems that controlled the 24 live streams the BBC made available online for the London 2012 Olympics.
