Felienne Hermans explains how she used F# to determine if the game Quarto can end up in a tie or if there is always a winner. The technique used can be applied to scheduling and register allocation.

Bio

Felienne Hermans is an assistant professor at Delft University of Technology. During her PhD project, she researched the applicability of refactoring and smell detection to spreadsheets, and founded a spin off based on this idea. Now a professor, she continues her mission to improve spreadsheets in the wild using software engineering methods. She is co-organizer of Joy of Coding in Rotterdam.
