Eclipse BIRT reporting and BIRT Exchange

by Alex Blewitt on Apr 03, 2009 |

Actuate has announced the BIRT Global Partner Connection for organisations wishing to develop with BIRT, one of the top ten projects at Eclipse. Actuate initiated and co-leads BIRT, the Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools project at Eclipse. In addition, Actuate host www.birt-exchange.com, an open portal for community forums and support.

BIRT allows data from sources such as SQL databases to be presented in reporting forms and charts, delivered via the web (with back-end servlets and HTML) or through more traditional means (rendering to PDF and sent electronically or through post). The framework is customisable and reports can be scripted, providing interactive behaviour for those viewing on-line.

For more information about BIRT, an introduction and tutorial is available. For more information about the partner connection, visit www.birt-exchange.com.
