Manage Cloud Enabled Jelastic Hosting Using NetBeans IDE
Jelastic has released a new plugin which enables developers to integrate their Java and PHP based cloud hosting platform with NetBeans IDE. It provides an ability for the users to access their development, test and production deployments from within the integrated development environment.
The plugin is a set of software development tools that simplifies the process of application management and development in the NetBeans IDE in the form of projects in the Jelastic platform.
With the help of new Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE, users of Jelastic hosting platform will be able to take advantage of the IDE features such as Java EE support, high quality code editors, version control tools and an intuitive user interface. In addition to NetBeans IDE, Jelastic also integrates with build systems such as Maven, Ant, Hudson, Jenkins including Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA.
In an exclusive interview to InfoQ, Dmitry Sotnikov, Chief Operating Officer, Jelastic shared the benefits and features of the new plugin.
InfoQ: What is the benefit of the recent integration of Jelastic with NetBeans IDE?
This special plug-in makes development of Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) web applications on the Jelastic platform much more convenient, since the developer can now log in to Jelastic and deploy the app in the cloud right from the NetBeans IDE. Now NetBeans IDE users have the ability to work with their Jelastic hosting, without having to ever leave their favorite development environment.
InfoQ: What are the features of Jelastic Plugin for NetBeans?
The Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE provides the developer with the following useful functions:
- Deploy NetBeans IDE projects to Jelastic
- Access and manage server log files
- Ability to manage (start, stop, and so on) user environments
- Possibility to work with the application contexts and much more
InfoQ: Does the usage of the plugin improves the speed of application deployment?
Yes, sure. The Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE significantly improves the speed of application deployment, as developers can manage their deployments and hosting environments without switching between the IDE and the browser.
