French expert user-interface programmer Sébastien Gruhier recently released version 0.80 of his beautiful Prototype Windows library, based on Prototype 1.5 and inspired by the script.aculo.us library, which provides fancy visual effects such as fading in and out.

Sébastien's library gives the ability to easily create modal and non-modal windows and dialogs, which optionally capture their position and size to a cookie automatically.

Prototype and Scriptaculous are object-oriented Javascript libraries popularized by their association with Ruby on Rails, but also used by many developers of Java-based rich browser interface applications.

Work on a Rails Plugin to simplify usage of Sébastien's code is underway.
