Strategies for Remaining Focussed on Your Project's Goal

by Scott Ambler on Jun 12, 2006 |
This article describes strategies for remaining remaining focused on the true goals of a software development projects.  Too many teams loose focus, get off track, and thereby fail to address the issue(s) which they were initially chartered to address.  In Focus on the Goal Christoph Steindl describes strategies for remaining focused and thereby effective.  This includes using Strategic Intermediate Objective Maps (SIO Maps) common within the Theory of Contraints (ToC) community to identify and explore the issues pertinent to your project.  SIO maps depict the goal(s), critical success factors (CSFs), and the conditions necessary to achieve those CSFs, depicting in a simple manner the requisite information to understand the true goals of your project.
