RailsDay 2006 Announced
RailsDay 2006 was announced today. The worldwide contest is a 24 hour competition scheduled to be held in mid-June, right before RailsConf. During the contest, teams of Ruby on Rails developers from around the world will compete for valuable prizes to see who can author the best Rails application in just a day.
Last year about 120 teams signed up and 100 competed. Given the growth of the Rails community in the last year, interest in the event should be strong. The event's organizers have not announced prizes yet but last year's prizes included a Sony PSP, iPod and Mac Mini. USC programmers Cyrus Farajpour and Robert Bousquet won the top prize last year with a billing application.
