  • JetBrains Releases AppCode 3.1 Preview with Improved Swift Support

    JetBrains has released AppCode 3.1 under its EAP, offering developers a preview of the IDE's improved Swift support. This release builds upon the basic support for the Swift language introduced in June's 3.0.1 release, which included basic editing support and syntax highlighting for Swift. With the release of 3.1 developers can avail of most of the IDE's advanced capabilities when using Swift.

  • WebStorm 9 Supports Meteor, React and Polymer

    WebStorm 9, JetBrains’ IntelliJ IDEA-based IDE, comes with a number of new features and enhancements, including support for Meteor, React, Polymer, PhoneGap, Ionic, and others.

  • JetBrains CLion, a C/C++ IDE, and ReSharper for C++

    JetBrains has released CLion EAP, a new IntelliJ-based IDE for C and C++. The IDE comes with Code Completion, Code Generation (for constructors, getters/setters or methods), Intention Actions, Quick Fixes, Refactoring, Project Search and Code Navigation. They also want to bring ReSharper to Visual Studio C++.

  • JetBrains 0xDBE: A Tool for DBAs and SQL Developers

    Up until now, JetBrains’ IDEs have included plug-ins for dealing with database administration and development tasks. JetBrains has decided to extract the respective functionality and place it in an IDE of its own, namely 0xDBE.

  • IntelliJ 13 Released

    Jetbrains has announced the release of IntelliJ IDEA version 13 Community Edition and Ultimate edition. Both feature a completely revamped user interface, including support for Android, Java 8 (including Lambda expressions) and many other development technologies introduced this year.

  • Oracle Resurrects getCallerClass, At Least for Now

    Oracle has reversed their decision to remove the method sun.reflect.Reflection.getCallerClass(int) in Java 7u40. The method is planned to remain at least through Java 7.

  • Version 5 of Programmer's Text Editor jEdit Released with Support for Scala and Dart

    jEdit version 5.0.0 was recently released. It has new editing modes for Scala and Dart, and improved Mac OS X support regarding the UI and keymappings. All keyboard shortcuts are now configurable and presets are offered for Emacs and IntelliJ IDEA. This is also the first version that supports localization (French, German, Russian, Czech and Japanese are offered).
