Gremlin Releases "Resilience as a Service" SaaS Platform to Enable More Effective Chaos Engineering
Gremlin Inc has released Gremlin, a “resilience as a service” SaaS-based platform, which allows organisations to “break things on purpose” and conduct chaos experiments in order to help prevent application downtime before it happens. Gremlin allows the controlled injection of resource, network and state failure to managed infrastructure so that engineers can observe the behaviour of the system.

KubeCon and CloudNativeCon 2017: An "Exciting Time for Boring Infrastructure"
At the joint KubeCon / CloudNativeCon conferences, held in Austin, USA, over 4000 engineers met to learn about and share the latest status of Kubernetes and other cloud native technologies. Core takeaways included that much of the cloud native “boring” infrastructure is starting to become mature, and many of the CNCF hosted technologies are being released as officially ready for production use.

The First Nine Projects Proposed for EE4J
As part of the process to transition Oracle Java EE 8 and GlassFish technologies to the Eclipse Foundation, the first nine projects have been proposed to ultimately be included in the Eclipse Enterprise for Java (EE4J). OpenStack Foundation Announces New Container Project
The OpenStack Foundation announced a new container project called Kata Containers, born out of contributions from Intel’s Clear Containers and Hyper’s runV projects. The project is compatible with the Open Container Initiative (OCI) as well as Kubernetes’ Container Runtime Interface (CRI).

Chef Extends OpsWorks Capabilities in AWS
Chef has announced new capabilities to address application lifecycle control concerns in containers in AWS. New functionality includes Chef Automate with integrated compliance and builds on AWS OpsWorks for Chef Automate announced in 2016. OpsWorks for Chef Automate provides a managed Chef server and suite of automation tools.

Amazon GuardDuty: A Zero-Footprint Managed Threat Detection Service for AWS Accounts and Resources
At the AWS re:invent conference, the release of Amazon GuardDuty was announced - a managed threat detection service that continuously monitors for malicious or unauthorised behaviour. The service can be centrally managed, is “zero footprint”, and remediation scripts or AWS Lambda functions can be configured to trigger automatically based on GuardDuty findings.
