  • Java 8 Auto-Update, Java 7 End of Public Update

    Oracle has started auto-updating JRE 7 to JRE 8. Auto-update was turned on in January 20, 2015 and affects Windows 32-bit and OS X users who use Java's auto-update mechanism. This is not a silent upgrade and requires user permission. JRE 8 was released on March 2014 and has been the default version on Java.com since October 2014.

  • Google App Engine Adds Support for Java 7

    Google App Engine introduces experimental support for Java 7, Cloud Endpoints, and Cloud Messaging Service for Android.

  • Java 7 Now Includes JavaFX

    Just before Christmas, Oracle released a second update to Java SE 7, and a 30th for Java SE 6. As part of the Java 7 release, the Java Development Kit (JDK) now includes the SDK for developing JavaFX applications and, the JavaFX Runtime is now installed with the JRE.

  • JSR-107, JCache: Alive and Going to be Part of Java EE 7

Given the increased demand for caching, it seems JSR-107 will finally see the light of day, and be part of Java EE 7.
