BlazeDS is an open source project from Adobe that allows you to connect your Adobe Flex applications with data services. The Java Messaging Service (JMS) is a method of communicating with services written in Java. In the first of two articles, InfoQ looks at the advantages of JMS and how you can use BlazeDS to communicate with your Java services via JMS from your Flex applications.

Encrypting the Internet

The authors, from Intel, offer a three pronged approach to providing secure transmission of high volume HTML traffic: new CPU instructions to accelerate cryptographic operations; a novel implementation of the RSA algorithm to accelerate public key encryption; and using SMT to balance web server and cryptographic operations. Their approach, they claim, leads to significant cost savings.

WebSphere vs. .NET: IBM and Microsoft Go Head to Head

After carrying out a number of benchmarks, Microsoft concluded that .NET offers better performance and cost-performance ratio than WebSphere. IBM rebutted Microsoft’s findings and carried out other tests proving that WebSphere is superior to .NET. Microsoft responded by rejecting some of IBM’s claims as false and repeating the tests on different hardware with different results.
