New GCC 8.1 Supports Several Features of C++2a

GCC 8.1 is the latest major release of the GNU Compiler Collection, bringing experimental support for some parts of the upcoming C++2a standard. Additionally, GCC 8.1 improves profile driven optimizations and brings Go support up to version 1.10.1.

Visual Studio has long possessed the ability to target the ARM-platform, as long as the platform is running Windows. In Visual Studio 2017 15.5 Preview 2, the IDE is expanding this support by adding the capability to target ARM based computers and IoT devices through the use of the GCC compiler.

LLD, LLVM’s New Linker, Coming to LLVM 4

LLD, which touts great performance improvements over GCC ld, will be included in LLVM 4 rc1 and enabled by default. Although the new linker is already able to build a running FreeBSD/amd64 base system, its inclusion in LLVM is still experimental and could be set back in rc2 if it causes problems.

GCC 6.1 Brings New C++17 Features, Full Support for OpenMP, Improves OpenACC

Version 6.1 is the first major GCC release in about one year. It contains substantial new functionality, says GCC maintainer Jakub Jelinek, including new C++17 features, full support for OpenMP, and improved support for OpenACC.

GCC 5.1 is Out

The GNU Project has announced the release of GCC 5.1. The first major release of GCC 5 comes with many new features and improvements, including improved support for C++11/14, a new libstdc++ ABI, and a machine-code JIT embeddable library.
