Oracle Officially Launching Java EE 7 and Glassfish 4 Today
Oracle is officially launching Java EE 7 with a live webcast today at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 5 pm London, and a repeat performance at 9 pm PT / 12 am ET (Thursday) / 2 pm Sydney (Thursday). Along with the release Oracle has put out added a reference implementation for the specification in the form of GlassFish 4.0, and we are expecting to see an official release of Netbeans 7.3.1 in due course.

SAP's OSGi-Based Java PaaS Achieves Java Enterprise Edition 6 Web Profile Compatibility
SAP AG announced on the 16th December that its NetWeaver Cloud product, a Java-based platform-as-a-service, has achieved Java EE 6 Web Profile Compatibility. NetWeaver Cloud runs on top of OSGi using Eclipse Virgo as the OSGi container. The product includes an Eclipse-based SDK for building, testing, and deploying applications in the cloud.

Spring Migration Analyzer: An Assistant For JavaEE To Spring Conversion
Spring Migration Analyzer is a command line utility, that takes as input the binary archive of a JavaEE application (e.g. an EAR file) and creates a report, containing JavaEE technologies used, along with advice on effort required to migrate them to Spring/Tomcat. Oracle Dropping Cloud Support from Java EE 7 Plans
In a move that is becoming rather familiar, Oracle has announced that it is looking to reduce the scope of Java EE 7 in order to keep development on track, by deferring PaaS and multi-tenancy support to Java EE 8.
