iBeacon Device Maker Estimote Releases 1.3 SDK with UUID Customization
Estimote, a maker of iBeacon devices, has released a new version of their mobile SDK that allows developers to build contextual computing solutions using small Bluetooth low energy (Bluetooth LE or BLE) beacons called “motes”. These devices are capable of broadcasting BLE signals that can be detected by compatible smartphones to enable a variety of micro-location services.

Apple Rolls Out CarPlay
At the Geneva International Motor Show, Apple announced to roll out CarPlay partnering with premium car manufactures. CarPlay fully integrates iOS devices with existing infotainment capabilities of cars. Currently, Apple restricts CarPlay to a few applications like Maps, Phone or Messages. At the moment, there is no public API announced to write CarPlay enabled applications.

Apple Buys TestFlight, Android Support Discontinued
Apple confirmed that it acquired Burstly, the owner TestFlight. TestFlight is a beta-testing platform for mobile applications which offers easy-to-use services to help in the process of distributing and testing apps for iOS and Android. Whereas TestFlight will continue to support iOS applications, testing of Android apps will be discontinued by March 21st.
