Hi Ross,
here are a few alternatives you seem to have missed:
- For email as a service: CritSend (www.critsend.com/): I've used it, it does the job well and for cheap.
- For error management as a service: Sentry (www.getsentry.com/welcome/). Used by many reputable people (including me in the near future). Bonus point: fully open source.

I should refresh this deck for 2012, lots of great APIs emerging. Sentry sounds interesting, will check it out

only mentioning this as couchDB was originally built as a file-system, so this is like file-server as a service.
