Spring AI Provides Integration with OpenAI and Azure OpenAI
The experimental Spring AI project was introduced during the SpringOne conference and allows the creation of AI applications by using common concepts of Spring. Currently the project integrates Azure OpenAI and OpenAI as AI backends. Use cases like content generation, code generation, semantic search and summarization are supported by the project.

Spring Cloud 2022.0.0 Delivers Updates to Sub-Projects and JDK 17 Baseline
VMware has released Spring Cloud 2022.0.0, codenamed Kilburn, based upon the recently introduced Spring Framework 6 and Spring Boot 3. Spring Cloud 2022.0.0 is based on Spring Framework 6 requiring Java 17 and is compatible with Jakarta EE 9. This release supports Ahead of Time (AOT) compilation and the creation native images with GraalVM.

Spring Authorization Server 1.0 Provides Oauth 2.1 and OpenID Connect 1.0 Implementations
More than two-and-a-half years after being introduced to the Java community, VMWare has released Spring Authorization Server 1.0. Built on top of Spring Security, the Spring Authorization Server project supports the creation of OpenID Connect 1.0 Identity Providers and OAuth 2.1 Authorization Servers. The project supersedes the Spring Security OAuth project which is no longer maintained.

Spring for Apache Kafka 3.0 and Spring for RabbitMQ 3.0 Released
VMWare has released Spring for Apache Kafka 3.0 and Spring for RabbitMQ 3.0 requiring Java 17 and Spring Framework 6.0. The projects now support the creation of native GraalVM applications and observation for timers and tracing by using the Micrometer metrics facade. Both projects now provide a Bill of Materials (BOM) in the pom.xml file to assist with dependency management.

VMware released Spring Framework 6 and Spring Boot 3, a new generation for the Spring ecosystem. Spring Framework 6 requires Java 17 and Jakarta EE 9. It also embeds observability through Micrometer with tracing and metrics. Spring Boot 3 requires Spring Framework 6. It has built-in support for creating native executables through static Ahead-of-Time (AOT) compilation with GraalVM Native Image.

Spring Authorization Server 1.0 Planned for November 2022
Spring Authorization Server 1.0 is planned for a GA release in November 2022, after starting the project two years ago. The Spring Authorization Server project replaces the, already End of Life, Spring Security OAuth project. The project is led by the Spring Security team and delivers support for OAuth 2.1 Authorization Server for Spring applications.

Spring Boot 2.7.0 Released with Support for GraphQL, Podman and Cache2k
VMware has released Spring Boot 2.7.0, the latest and final branch of the 2.x series. This latest version of Spring Boot includes support for Spring for GraphQL 1.0; support for the Podman container engine; dependency management and auto-configuration for Cache2k; and new test annotations for ElasticSearch and CouchBase.
