    Today, Microsoft released a novel service for ingesting and processing cloud events. The Azure Event Grid takes events generated from Azure services, or custom apps, and routes them to chosen handlers.

    Integrate 2017, an annual integration event focused on Microsoft Integration technologies, took place in London from June 26th – 28th. Some of the key themes that were discussed include the role of cognitive computing in integration, API orchestration, SaaS connectivity, cloud native integration, the impact of serverless on integration and cloud messaging at scale.

  • John Gossman on Microsoft’s Serverless Platform, Azure Functions and Logic Apps

    John Gossman, lead architect at Microsoft Azure, spoke on Thursday at ServerlessConf Conference about Microsoft's open source Serverless platform. The Microsoft team also gave demos on Azure Functions, Logic Apps and how to monitor the platform components.

  • Microsoft Adds Application Insights Support for Azure Functions

    Microsoft recently announced an initial preview of Application Insights support for Azure Functions. As a result of this integration between the two services, developers now get built-in instrumentation for their code and a portal to view trends in their code’s performance. Developers are also able to set monitoring thresholds which can be used to create alerts or a callout to external webhooks.

  • Microsoft Launches Cloud Bot-as-a-Service Platform

    This past November, Microsoft launched, what it is calling, the Industry’s First Cloud Bot-as-a-Service platform. The Azure Bot Service is powered by the Microsoft Bot Framework and has a serverless compute back-end built on Azure Functions. Using the Bot service allows developers to build conversational applications that plug into many popular chat applications.

  • Azure Functions Reach General Availability

    Microsoft recently announced an addition to its Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering called Azure Functions. Initially launched as a preview service in March 2016, Azure Functions provide developers with an event-driven serverless compute platform that allow organizations to pay for only what they consume.

  • Azure Functions Support Added to Azure IoT Gateway SDK

    Earlier this month, Microsoft added support for their serverless event driven platform, Azure Functions, within the Azure IoT Gateway SDK. This addition provides a cloud-based extensibility point for developers building IoT solutions on top of Azure.
