RubyConf India 2010 A Big Success
RubyConf India 2010, the first RubyConf to be held in India, took place on March 20th and 21st at The Royal Orchid Hotel in Bangalore. Over 400 attendees from 29 cities across the globe representing 119 companies, mostly startups, enjoyed talks 25 speakers, many of them influential leaders in the international Ruby community.

RubyGems.org Replaces RubyForge as Gem Host
With a recent announcement from Nick Quaranto, RubyGems.org has become the default gem source for RubyGems. The three domains gemcutter.org, gems.rubyforge.org, and rubygems.org now all point to the same place, and gem serving and installation work for all three. RubyGems.org is the main web front end, to which the other two sites redirect. The secure site, https://rubygems.org, is also now live.

Oracle Calls for JavaOne Papers
Oracle has announced the call for JavaOne papers for the re-scheduled conference, which will now run alongside Oracle OpenWorld from September 19-23 2010. The closing date for submissions is March 14, 2010.

Perspectives on the Conclusion of the Oracle - Sun Acquisition
After almost nine months of speculation and delay, Oracle has got the green light from EU which has lead to the completion of Sun’s acquisition. The announcement was followed by an all-day event were Oracle presented its future plans for the Sun technologies and platforms.

Although the JSR tries to find common ground between different module systems (notably Sun's Project Jigsaw and OSGi), the current set of proposals are overly complex and introduce the world's first concept of a meta-module system.
