New in RAD Studio XE2: Multiplatform, Native iOS&Android, HD&3D Animation, and Cloud
Embarcadero is preparing a new release of their RAD Studio XE2 tools which includes Delphi XE2, C++Builder XE2, RADPHP XE2, and Prism XE2, at exactly one year after the initial launch of the XE line on August 30, 2010. This release has many new features, the most interesting being support for cross-platform development, Windows 64-bit, Amazon Cloud API, Native Android and iOS, and HD&3D animation.

GitHub Adds Web-Based File Edit and Commit Feature
GitHub just added a new feature: files in the web view of a Git repository can now be edited and then committed in the browser. A similar feature was added to Google Code a few months ago.

Refactoring and Profiling Python with Visual Studio
Microsoft’s Developer Division has released a release candidate of Python Tools for Visual Studio. In addition to supporting refactoring in CPython and IronPython, this release offers support for MPI (Message Passing Interface) and Microsoft HPC (High Performance Computing). Visual Studio Ultimate owners also get a profiler for CPython.

JetBrains introduces the new JVM language Kotlin
So far, Kotlin has been primarily known as a Russian island thirty kilometers west of Saint Petersburg. More recently, the Czech company JetBrains introduced a programming language named Kotlin running on the JVM (Java Virtual Machine). It is the intent of the Kotlin language developers to get rid of some challenges in the Java language.

Eclipse Indigo Released
The Eclipse Foundation has announced the release of Eclipse Indigo, a combination of 62 projects with a combined total of 46 million lines of code between them. Eclipse has followed an annual release train of the last week or two of June since Callisto in 2006, although the Eclipse platform has been released annually since 2001.

Oracle Moves JDeveloper to OSGi Backbone, Adds JSF 2 Support, Hudson Integration
Oracle has today released Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2, along with an update to their meta MVC framework Oracle ADF (Application Development Framework). The release includes support for JSF 2.0 and Facelets, adds Hudson integration to Oracle TPC, and improves hot deployment for ADF. At the same time JDeveloper has been re-architected to sit on top of an OSGi backbone.

JetBrains Release IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 With Full Java 7 Support
JetBrains have released IDEA 10.5 with support for Java 7, Groovy 1.8 and Spring 3.1 as well as further usability improvements. Version 10.5 is a free update for developers with a version 10 license, and the Ultimate version is now offered at a lower price for new licenses and for personal license upgrades.
