Cloud Foundry Announces New Version, Deprecates Old
Cloud Foundry has announced the deprecation of its current service and planned launch of Cloud Foundry V2. The new service will become a paid service along with a new architecture and new features including a web console, team development and buildpacks for customizing languages and runtime environments. There will also be support for custom domains and a services marketplace.

Heroku Expands Into Europe, Improves Application Scalability and Networking
PaaS provider Heroku recently announced an expansion of their global footprint and introduced a set of architectural updates. Although missing a Safe Harbor agreement, Heroku is the latest PaaS vendor to establish a European presence. They have also added a new “scale up” options for cloud processes, isolated networking, and a tool for checking the production readiness of an application.

SAP's OSGi-Based Java PaaS Achieves Java Enterprise Edition 6 Web Profile Compatibility
SAP AG announced on the 16th December that its NetWeaver Cloud product, a Java-based platform-as-a-service, has achieved Java EE 6 Web Profile Compatibility. NetWeaver Cloud runs on top of OSGi using Eclipse Virgo as the OSGi container. The product includes an Eclipse-based SDK for building, testing, and deploying applications in the cloud.
