Microsoft Releases More Azure Stack Details, Available September
At the recent Microsoft Inspire partner conference, Microsoft announced Azure Stack is now available for order and will ship as soon as September. Azure Stack is a private cloud implementation of Microsoft’s public Azure cloud. Unlike other private cloud providers, Microsoft is offering Azure Stack as a consumption-based service, similar to its public cloud counterpart.

Google Invests in Cognitive: Cloud Speech API Reaches General Availability
In a recent blog post, Google announced their Cloud Speech API has reached General Availability. The Cloud Speech API allows developers to include pre-trained machine learning models for cognitive tasks such as video, image and text analysis in addition to dynamic translation. The Cloud Speech API was launched, in open beta, last summer.

Microsoft Updates Azure IoT Platform: Adds Connectivity, Time Series Insights and Edge Analytics
Microsoft has recently made some announcements regarding their Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities within Azure. Microsoft’s news includes adding a new service called Azure Time Series Insights, additional connectivity platform support for OPC UA/DA and Azure Stream Analytic support on edge devices. In addition, Microsoft also announced a new SaaS-based IoT Solution called Azure IoT Central.

A Human Error Took Down AWS S3 US-EAST-1
A mistake took down more S3 servers than it should, including two subsystems essential to S3 operation. This resulted in S3 failure, affecting the S3 service and other services depending on it. Normal functioning was restored in about four hours.

Building Conversational and Text Interfaces Using Amazon Lex
At the recent AWS re:Invent conference, Amazon introduced a preview of their deep learning technology called Amazon Lex which can be used to build conversational interfaces using voice and text.
