    Sun today released the GlassFish Tools Bundle for Eclipse, which provides an Eclipse environment to create and provision GlassFish applications from within Eclipse.

  • WindowBuilder Pro 7.0 Released

    Instantiations has released WindowBuilder Pro 7.0, a Java GUI builder, and which recently won the "Best commercial Eclipse-based developer tool" category at EclipseCon 2009. Updates to 7.0 include UI Factories and Nebula widget integration, along with Swing Data Binding and GWT-Ext widgets.

  • Eclipse Riena 1.0 Released

    The Eclipse Foundation has announced the release of Eclipse Riena 1.0, a platform for developing multi-tier rich client applications based on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) and Equinox. Riena Core is an OSGi-based Remote Services Component for creating distributed client/server applications.

  • Article: RGen: Ruby Modeling and Code Generation Framework

    This article introduces RGen, a modeling framework inspired by openArchitectureWare and technologies like the Eclipse's EMF. RGen uses internal DSLs for defining metamodels and offers a full modeling stack for Ruby.

  • Web-based IDEs to become mainstream?

    Last week Mozilla released Bespin, a web-based framework for code editing and only a few days later Boris Bokowski and Simon Kaegi implemented an Eclipse-based Bespin server using headless Eclipse plug-ins. With the presentation of a web-based workbench at EclipseCon and the release of products like the Heroku web-based IDE for RoR apps, it seems that web-based IDEs might soon become mainstream.
