Eclipse is elected for JCP Executive Committee
The final results of 2007 Java Community Process (JCP) executive committee elections were announced on Tuesday. Eclipse Foundation is among the newly elected members in Java Standard and Enterprise Edition category. This is the first time an open source tooling vendor won a seat in the JCP executive committee. Time Warner Cable is the newly elected member in Java Micro Edition group.

IDE scripting with Ruby and Eclipse Monkey
Eclipse Monkey now allows to script Eclipse with Ruby. This puts Eclipse closer to Smalltalk IDEs or Emacs, by allowing to automate tedious tasks or build simple tools right in the IDE using a familiar language.

JLINQ: Runtime JDBC Generator for Eclipse
Azadeh Ahadian of IBM has published an article introducing JLINQ on IBM's developerWorks site. Despite the name, JLINQ does not have much in common with Microsoft's LINQ, rather it is an Eclipse plugin providing integration with a database and runtime DAO code generation. The plugin is part of IBM's Developer Workbench that is coming with Viper, the next release of DB2.

Eclipse DLTK 0.9 Supports Tcl, Ruby and More

TeamCity 2 Continous Build Platform adds Eclipse & Visual Studio Plugins
Jetbrains has released TeamCity 2; their Continuous Build platform adds more VCS support as well as IDE plugins. Eclipse support includes a personal builds, views of builds triggered by the developer's check-ins, offending code highlighting, etc. The VS plugin includes Team Foundation Server integration, managing TFS specific tasks including check in policies and notes and TFS work items.
