Azure Service Fabric SDK Becomes Open Source
Microsoft recently announced it opened the source code of its Azure Service Fabric SDK. Azure Service Fabric is a distributed systems platform to package, deploy, and manage and microservices. The SDK exposes Service Fabric APIs to integrate .NET applications in the Service Fabric platform.

Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Adds Linkerd, gRPC, and CoreDNS to Growing Portfolio
Since the beginning of 2017 the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has added three new projects to their portfolio for hosting and stewardship, including: linkerd, a transparent proxy ‘service mesh’ that provides service discovery, failure handling and visibility; gRPC, a language agnostic high performance RPC framework; and CoreDNS, a fast and configurable cloud native DNS server.

Atomist Launches Alpha Programme
Atomist has launched an Alpha Programme for those who want to try out Rug, the company’s meta-meta-programming language. Rug is used to automate the development workflow by generating repetitive or boilerplate code, and is orchestrated by Atomist. Rug aims to improve productivity when working with distributed systems such as microservices.

MicroProfile Becomes Eclipse MicroProfile
MicroProfile, the community initiative to provide a microservices standard for enterprise Java, has joined the Eclipse Foundation. The move is aimed at ensuring that MicroProfile remains a vendor-neutral project, and hopes to leverage the resources and momentum of the Eclipse Foundation. The decision has caused some arguments and temporarily diverted efforts from other objectives.
