HP announced an integrated private cloud solution called HP Helion Rack based on HP ProLiant DL servers, OpenStack and Cloud Foundry.
HP Helion Rack, the pre-configured, pre-tuned and pre-tested private cloud solution is based on OpenStack and Cloud Foundry technologies integrated with HP server hardware.
HP claims that the new platform enables rapid infrastructure provisioning for development and production workloads, is optimized for hosting applications that require secure, compliant and performance tuned infrastructure, and provides a platform for developing, designing and deploying cloud native applications.
The converged infrastructure solution comes with pre-configured IaaS and PaaS capabilities to support cloud-native applications. Helion Development Platform includes a version of Cloud Foundry, which supports the Java, Node.js. ActivePerl, PHP, ActivePython, Ruby, Scala, Erlang, and Clojure languages.
According to HP, enterprises can easily deploy a factory built solution utilizing best practices and installed onsite by HP experts. This eliminates the need to design, test and optimize the private cloud deployment. Integrated hardware and open source software enable enterprise IT to rollout an industry standard private cloud. The common software and hardware platform architecture simplifies support, administration, updates and maintenance. Based on OpenStack technology and Cloud Foundry software, the platform offers flexibility in workload hosting, language and framework support, management tools and costs.
Bill Hilf, senior vice president of product management, HP Helion said:
Enterprise customers are asking for private clouds that meet their security, reliability and performance requirements, while also providing the openness, flexibility and fast time-to-value they require. HP Helion Rack offers an enterprise class private cloud solution with integrated application lifecycle management, giving organizations the simplified cloud experience they want, with the control and performance they need.
During the last one year, the converged infrastructure market saw new entrants such as VMware EVO:Rail and Microsoft Cloud Platform System.
The HP Helion Rack will be available next month. Pricing of the solution varies by the configuration.
