JetBrains Launches Toolbox under New Subscription Model

This item in japanese

As previously announced, JetBrains has launched the Toolbox, a collection of their desktop tools –IDEs, utilities and extensions – using the new subscription model which basically means paying monthly or yearly instead of one upfront payment.

The tools included in the Toolbox are: IntelliJ IDEA 15, ReSharper Ultimate 10 (ReSharper, ReSharper C++, dotTrace, dotCover dotMemory), WebStorm 11, PhpStorm 10, PyCharm 5, RubyMine 8, AppCode 3.3, CLion 1.2, and 0xDBE 1.0 (Preview). From all these, we provide some details of what’s new in two of the tools, ReSharper and WebStorm.

ReSharper Ultimate 10

All the tools included in ReSharper Ultimate have been brought to the same version (v. 10) for simpler management and reference. Some of the new features included in this version are:

  • Build – an incremental tool for large solutions
  • Postfix templates
  • Navigate to where symbols are used
  • Improved stack trace explorer
  • Support for NUnit 3
  • Support for Protocol Buffers
  • Full support for C99 (ReSharper C++)
  • Support for Google Mock Stubs (ReSharper C++)
  • Continuous testing (dotCover)
  • Navigation to IL code (dotPeek)
  • Improved performance

WebStorm 11

WebStorm 11 adds several new features, including:

  • Support for Angular 2
  • Improved support for TypeScript, ECMAScript 2015 and Dart
  • Improved support for Flow and React
  • Yeoman integration

The license terms initially announced have been sweetened, JetBrains accepting to change in two areas: those who pay for a product for at least one year get a perpetual fallback license for the product used at the beginning of the period and the tools can be used without an Internet connection. The licensing terms have not changed for the server tools – Hub, TeamCity, Upsource, and YouTrack.
