Data Dictionary Creator by Jon Galloway allows developers to quickly generate documentation for SQL Server databases.
By default, Data Dictionary Creator only offers a Description field for columns. However, users can easily add additional fields they want to track. These properties are stored as extended properties in SQL Server so they won't get lost like a stand-alone document.
Data Dictionary Creator has several export options including: WordML, Excel, HTML, and XML. This is an open source project, so developers can add functionality if needed. The source code is available on the VelocIT tools site.
