Benchmarks for Amazon's Graviton2 Arm Processor
AnandTech has published 'Amazon's Arm-based Graviton2 against AMD and Intel' which includes comprehensive benchmarks across Amazon’s general purpose instances. The cost analysis section describes ‘An x86 Massacre’, as while the pure performance of the Arm chip is generally in the same region as the x86 competitors, its lower price means the price/performance is substantially better.

Amazon Releases CLI v2, Includes SSO and Interactive Usability Features
In a recent blog post, Amazon announced the general availability (GA) of AWS CLI (Command Line Interface) v2. Within this version of the CLI, features such as AWS Single Sign-On (SSO), interactive wizards, server-side auto completion and auto prompts are included. In addition, having Python installed is no longer a pre-requisite and the CLI is supported on Windows, Linux and macOS.

HiveMQ Launches Fully-Managed, Fully-Compliant MQTT 5 Service for IoT Apps

Amazon Elastic File System New Features: IAM Authorization and Access Points
Amazon’s Elastic File System (EFS) Service (EFS) offers a simple, scalable, fully managed elastic NFS file system for use with AWS Cloud services and on-premises resources. Recently Amazon announced updates for this service by adding two new features, namely Identity and Access Management (IAM) authorization for Network File System (NFS) and EFS Access Points.

Preventing Inadvertent Changes, Amazon Adds Change Calendar to AWS Systems Manager
In a recent blog post, Amazon announced a new capability has been added to AWS Systems Manager called Change Calendar. This feature allows administrators to create change windows that either block or enable changes to be made, within a specific time frame, and is beneficial to organizations that have deployment freezes such as during the holidays or key business events.

Amazon Releases AWS Outposts, Enabling Hybrid Data Center Architectures
Amazon have announced general available of AWS Outposts, a fully managed service that extends AWS infrastructure, AWS services, APIs, and tools to "virtually any datacenter, co-location space, or on-premises facility". This solution allows customers to take advantage of AWS technology, but addresses local processing and low latency requirements.

JetBrains Releases AWS Toolkit for Rider
Earlier this month, JetBrains released the Rider version for its AWS Toolkit, an IDE plugin aimed at helping developers to build, test and deploy serverless applications in the Amazon Web Services platform. This release also includes support for Node.JS (in WebStorm) and updates to its first version, available since March of this year for Java and Python developers using IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm.

Atlassian Introduces Forge, a New Way to Build Serverless Cloud Apps
In a recent blog post, Atlassian announced a new serverless cloud platform called Forge that allows developers to build Functions-as-a Service (FaaS)-based applications that are hosted and operated by Atlassian. Forge UI, a flexible and declarative UIL language, will be used by developers to build interactive experiences across web and mobile devices using a low-code approach.

AWS IoT Day Recap: Eight New Powerful Features
As part of AWS re:Invent pre-event announcements, Amazon shared eight new features available within their Internet of Things platform. These new features include: secure tunneling, configurable endpoints, custom domains for configurable endpoints, enhanced custom authorizers, fleet provisioning, Alexa Voice Services (AVS) integration and AWS IoT Greengrass enhancements.
