RunDeck, Puppet, Hiera and Nagios enable bol.com to build and monitor a full working environment in under two hours, in a fully automated fashion.

  • New Relic Open Sources their Docker Deployment Tool Centurion

    New Relic open sourced Centurion, a deployment tool for Docker used internally to run their production infrastructure. Centurion takes containers from a Docker registry and runs them on a fleet of hosts with the correct environment variables, host volume mappings, and port mappings, supporting rolling deployments out of the box.

  • DockerCon 2014 Highlights

    After the launch of Docker 1.0 there was more to come. The conference t-shirts said ‘Containers everywhere!’, with plenty of evidence of that from the large Bay area service providers. There were also some additional launches - libswarm ‘a minimalist toolkit to compose network services’, libchan ‘an ultra-lightweight networking library’, and more partners getting involved with libcontainer.

    Docker.io have used their inaugural DockerCon event to launch version 1.0 of their container management tools. It comes just days after the release of 0.12.0, which was focussed on stability, performance and usability rather than introducing significant new features. Production readiness means that Docker.io is now providing support services for Docker.

  • JetBrains 0xDBE: A Tool for DBAs and SQL Developers

    Up until now, JetBrains’ IDEs have included plug-ins for dealing with database administration and development tasks. JetBrains has decided to extract the respective functionality and place it in an IDE of its own, namely 0xDBE.

  • AWS Management Portal for VMware vCenter

  • Play 2.3 Released: Modularization, Java 8 and WebJars

    The Play 2.3 release increases modularization of the framework by separating parts from the framework. Also, the Play shell has been replaced by Activator, which includes a browser UI and project templates.
