  • SharpDevelop 5 Introduces Class Browser, Search Grouping, Insert with Cursor and ILSpy Support

    SharpDevelop 5 has been released with new features such as class browser, search grouping including integration support for ILSpy. It also includes features such as insert with cursor, context actions, code inspections, enhanced scrollbar, background syntax check, link mode, suppressing issues, automatic variable naming in addition to XML based tooltips for documentation.

  • Running MSTest in SharpDevelop

    SharpDevelop currently comes with support for NUnit and offers the Gallio Addin for MBUnit. Recently Matt Ward announced the addition of MSTest support via a new add-on.

  • SharpDevelop 4.2: Now with Improved ASP.NET MVC 3 Support

    While SharpDevelop had project templates for MVC 3 for several versions, until recently it has been missing a lot. Version 4.2, currently in beta, adds a few more pieces to the puzzle.

  • IDE Support for IronPython and IronRuby

    Two of the top three IDEs for .NET are now supporting dynamic programming languages. While SharpDevelop 3.2 continues to enhance its support both IronPython and IronRuby, Microsoft is entering the game with IronPython Tools for Visual Studio and SapphireSteel is still offering Ruby in Steel.

  • SharpDevelop Hit the 3.0 Milestone

    The SharpDevelop community has released version 3.0 of the free open source .NET IDE. SharpDevelop (#Develop) features support for .NET 3.5, C#, VB.NET, F#, Code Completion, Auto Code Insert, Refactoring and others.

  • SharpDevelop 3.0 Enters Beta

    With the recent release of the .NET Framework version 3.5, a new release of SharpDevelop 3.0 is pending.

  • MSBuild and #Develop Support Moves F# Closer to Production Quality

    Robert Pickering has been hard at work trying to turn F# into a production-grade language. Since that means tool support, he has developed a MSBuild provider and a #Develop plug-in for F#.

  • SharpDevelop Version 2 Released

    The SharpDevelop team has released SharpDevelop 2.0 final, the open-source IDE for .NET development. This release add integrated debugging support, the "Go to Definition" option, "Find References", and support for several common refactorings.
