  • Windows Azure Plugin for Eclipse with Java, June 2011 Community Technology Preview

  • Eclipse Indigo Released

    The Eclipse Foundation has announced the release of Eclipse Indigo, a combination of 62 projects with a combined total of 46 million lines of code between them. Eclipse has followed an annual release train of the last week or two of June since Callisto in 2006, although the Eclipse platform has been released annually since 2001.

  • Eclipse Community Survey 2011

    The Eclipse Foundation has announced the results of its yearly community survey, which looks at various aspects of development in and around the Eclipse ecosystem. However, it also reflects the changing developer biases around the globe as well, such as the increasing use of DVCS and of mobile development platform preferences.

  • Eclipse on GitHub

    First Haskell, and now Eclipse moves to GitHub. Only Git repositories are being mirrored to GitHub, but there's more than 70 repositories already created at the Eclipse Foundation page on GitHub. With EGit 0.11 being released as part of 3.6.2 and aiming for a 1.0 release in Eclipse 3.7, there's more demand than ever to move to Git for Eclipse projects.

  • Eclipse Mylyn 3.5 brings Jenkins into View

    Eclipse Mylyn 3.5 has just been released, bringing improvements into the task focussed view and additional bugzilla queries. But the biggest new feature is the ability to view the state of Jenkins/Hudson builds as well as drill into test failures in order to locally replicate the issue.

  • Obeo Releases Obeo Designer 5.0

Code generation is handled by Acceleo, an Open-Source code generation environment based on a pragmatic vision of MDA, hosted by the Eclipse Foundation.

  • Easier Deployment of Java Apps to Windows Azure

    Microsoft has made available a kit for streamlining the process of deploying Java applications to Windows Azure.

  • Orion – Eclipse for the Web

    Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation, announced in January a new tool named “Orion”. This “brand new adventure for Eclipse”, as Mike puts it, will provide a browser-based environment for open tool integration. Beginning of February the team released milestone M5 of Orion.

  • Nuxeo Contributes Core to Eclipse Foundation

    Nuxeo, the open source enterprise content management company, announced that it will contribute their Nuxeo Core Java content repository technology to the Eclipse Foundation. Although already open-source under the LGPL, the move to Eclipse will see it relicensed to EPL.

  • Appcelerator Buys Aptana

    Appcelerator, the company behind the Titanium application development platform, has acquired Aptana. Aptana Studio 3, the Eclipse-based IDE with tightly integrated support for JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Ruby, Python and PHP, is due to be released this quarter.
