Eclipse Releases GlassFish 5.1 Certified as Compatible with Java EE 8
Eclipse has achieved another GlassFish milestone with the anticipated GA release of version 5.1. A year in the making, this milestone included previous GlassFish milestones such as the full migration of source code and open-sourcing the Java EE TCK (September 2018), the RC1 release of GlassFish 5.1 (October 2018), and the integration of EclipseLink and Eclipse Jersey in GlassFish (December 2018).

Eclipse Photon Nears Release
Eclipse Photon, the seventeenth annual release of the Eclipse Project, will be released in June, but we’re keeping an eye on all the new and noteworthy features in each pre-release milestone. Public Review of Java MVC 1.0 Specification is Now Open
Public review of JSR-371, Model-View-Controller (MVC) version 1.0 specification, is now open. The latest features include support for data binding and internationalization. Eclipse Ozark, a full implementation of MVC 1.0, is expected to release version 1.0 in conjunction with the final release of JSR-371. Ivar Grimstad, principal consultant for the Cybercom Group, spoke to InfoQ about MVC 1.0.

Spring Tool Suite 3.9.1 Released
Pivotal recently released version 3.9.1 of its Spring Tool Suite (STS), the Eclipse-based IDE for developing applications in Spring Framework. STS has been updated to Eclipse Oxygen.1a, which includes support for JDK 9 and JUnit 5 out of the box.

Orion 12 Brings Full Support for ECMAScript 2015
The Eclipse Orion project team has released version 12, bringing full support for the ECMAScript 2015 Language Specification. Mike Rennie, Orion contributor, says the release continues to emphasise Orion's JavaScript tooling, and that along with support for ECMAScript 2015, the release includes improved project configuration capabilities, and support for eslintrc.* files.

Eclipse Foundation Releases Neon
Today, the Eclipse Foundation announced the release of Eclipse Neon, the eponymous IDE which provides support for Java, JavaScript, C/C++, PHP and Fortran, amongst others. This release marks the eleventh release of the combined release train, with contributions from 779 developers (of which 331 are committers) and totalling 69 million lines of code.
