Spring Now Offers Free Access for the Spring Academy Pro Content

The Spring team has announced that the Pro Content from their Spring Academy will no longer require a paid subscription, effective April 5th 2024, to improve the learning experience for the Spring community. The Spring Academy will continue to provide new content in the future.

The content of the Spring Academy is divided into three parts: Guides, Courses and Learning Path.

The Guides provide a quick hands-on experience which takes around 15-30 minutes to complete. They are comparable with the Getting Started Guides, however the Spring Academy Guides provide a seamless integration between the guide and the development environment in the cloud:

The following guides are currently available:

  • Accessing Data with JPA
  • Building an Application with Spring Boot
  • Building a RESTful Web Service
  • HTTP Interfaces in Spring Boot
  • Messaging with RabbitMQ
  • Setup IntelliJ IDEA
  • Spring AI
  • Spring Tips: Go Fast with Spring Boot 3.1
  • Update a Spring Boot App Live in the Cloud
  • Upgrading the JDK Version of a Spring Boot Application from 8 to 17
  • What is New in Spring Boot 3.2

The Courses, also hands-on, take several hours to complete and cover the following topics:

  • Building a REST API with Spring Boot
  • Introduction to the Spring Professional Learning Path
  • Securing a REST API with OAuth 2.0
  • Building a Batch Application with Spring Batch
  • Spring Framework Essentials (Pro)
  • Spring Boot (Pro)
  • Upgrading from Spring Boot 2.7 to 3.1 (Pro)
  • Upgrading from Spring Boot 2.5 to 2.7 (Pro)
  • Building Native Applications with Spring Boot and GraalVM (Pro)

The Learning Path combines four courses so that developers may prepare for the Spring Certified Professional Exam.

The instructors for the Spring Academy include Broadcom Java luminaries such as: Josh Long, Spring developer advocate; Sébastien Deleuze, Spring framework core committer; Craig Walls, R&D engineer software; and Dan Vega, Spring developer advocate.

Developers who paid for a Pro Content subscription before April 5th, 2024, received a free certification exam voucher for the duration of their subscription. While the subscription now allows free access to the content, it no longer contains a free certification voucher for the exam. Certification exam vouchers can be purchased separately for Developed and Emerging countries.
